Why the MYL Player of the Week Award and How Can I win It? The MYL Players of the week award is given to the players who, attend both practices during the week, is coachable, has a great attitude and made a significant contribution to the game that week, while demonstrating sportsmanship and teamwork. The selected player from each team will receive a MVP sticker for his Helmet and the league weeklyMVP (listed below) receives a Players of the Week T-Shirt.

2008 MYL Hungry Dog of the Week Award Why the Hungry Dog Award? The ability and the desire to scoop ground balls is one of the most important skills, at any level, in the game of lacrosse. At the youth level, since the ball is on the ground more often, picking up loose balls becomes even more important. At MYL we want to reward the players who take pride in this skill by awarding the player who picks up the most ground balls each week with the “Hungry Dog of the Week” award. This player will receive a “Hungry Dog of the Week” t-shirt and their picture will appear on the web site. Players will also receive “dog bones” helmet sticker for each ground ball they pick up in a game. So to find the hungry dogs just look for the players with the greatest amount of “dog bones” on their helmet. Hungry Dog (hung-gre dawg) 1. Having a desire, craving or need to scoop ground balls. 2. Ravenous sweaty lacrosse player who never gives up: He had the ball until the Hungry Dog took it from him. 3. One who runs into stuff for no reason. 4. Usually wearing a MYL lacrosse jersey, drooling and howling at the top of his lungs.
